Newcastle City Council’s Blackbutt Reserve has been providing nature based outdoor activities and facilities to the community for over 70 years. We were engaged by Newcastle City Council to assist with the Reserve’s wildlife learning area and amenities buildings to enhance the quality and diversity of the experiences available at the nature reserve.
We added in a service wall to provide the nature reserve with wildlife storage areas, video screens and AV equipment. This area not only provides protection from wind and rain, but also adds light through the articulation of roof place, screens and walls.
Maitland No.1 Sportsground has been an iconic spot in the Maitland region for over 80 years – home to many memorable sporting events and community milestones.
In 2017 we were involved in upgrading the grandstand to bring new life to the facility. The old grandstands were demolished to make way for a 1,100 seat grandstand, with improved views of the grounds. The facility also features new and improved change rooms, amenities and a canteen.
Completed at the end of 2011, the redevelopment of McDonald Jones Stadium has added to the capacity of the stadium to house 30,000. It has become a state-of-the-art premier sports venue, the largest in New South Wales, outside of Sydney.
The redesign of this sporting centre included remedial work on the grandstands, updated media facilities and new scoreboard.
